Health & Medical Needs

Group Leaders need to be aware of their travelers’ medications and health concerns. They should collect this information before tour using the Health & Medical Form.
Prescriptions
All prescriptions should be filled, up-to-date and in the original packaging. Travelers should pack their prescriptions in their carry-on bag with copies of the prescription paperwork. Also, Group Leaders must be aware of every prescription in their students’ possession.
Dietary and health issues
Travelers should speak to their Group Leader about any dietary or health-related issues that might affect them on tour so they can relay that information to the Tour Director. For example, if a student carries an EpiPen for peanut or other allergies, the Group Leader should know where to find it and what the process is in case of emergency. EF tries to accommodate all dietary restrictions during included meals, but travelers with strict food requirements are advised to bring suitable snack options. EF cannot make special dietary requests with the airlines; travelers should plan to notify the airline of any restrictions directly a few days before the flight.
Emergency Contact
Travelers and parents should confirm that we have the correct emergency contact details on file. Log in and visit your Profile page at efexploreamerica.com/personal/profile, then scroll down to the “Contact Information” section and double-check that the info we have for your emergency contact is complete and accurate. (Make sure the person you choose will be reachable for the duration of your tour and isn’t traveling with your group.)
Illness and Accident Coverage
Included in all EF Explore America travelers' cost is our illness and accident coverage. After the traveler's primary insurance is billed, remaining hospital and doctor's fees and medical transportation for illness or injury sustained on tour will be covered up to $50,000. To learn more, please call our Traveler Support Team at 888-333-9756.
